Request a Transfer

Players seeking transfer to or from a Rocky Mountain Rugby member club must first consult the USA Rugby Eligibility Regulations (https://www.usarugby.org/eligibility/). If you have participated in USAR qualifying matches, you must submit to the USA Rugby waiver request process (https://www.usarugby.org/transfer-request/).

If you are seeking to transfer but are not restricted by the USA Rugby Eligibility Regulations, you must receive approval from the union executive responsible. College-to-Club or Club-to-College transfers require approval of both executives.

Transfers to/from a College Club: Rich Cortez (tez@wyoming.com)
Transfers to/from a Senior Club: Erik Geib (erik.v.geib@gmail.com)

If you have played in a union-controlled match, you must submit a waiver request to RMR and receive approval from the proper executive before participating in a league match with your new team. Waiver requests should include your name, CIPP number, notation of which clubs you're transferring to/from, a statement of support from the club you're leaving stating that they endorse your movement, and a letter detailing your reason(s) for transferring. Notably, if you owe money to your previous club or are under disciplinary sanction, you will not be approved. If you are transferring within the same league or metro area, you may also be denied if you do not supply a compelling argument (note: these waivers are denied 99% of the time by USA Rugby). RMR uses the same criteria in evaluating transfers in leagues that don't have national qualifying matches as USA Rugby does for league that do have national qualifying matches, though RMR is willing to be more lenient in exceptional circumstances.

Examples of leagues with national qualifying matches: Men's College D2, Men's Club D2, Men's Club D3, Men's Club D4, Women's Club D1, Women's College D1
Examples of leagues that are only controlled by the union: Men's Club D4, Men's Mountain League
