The Rocky Mountain Rugby Disciplinary Committee has suspended the Provo Steelers for the 2017-2018 competitive season.
In May 2017, Provo was cited for fielding a player who was under disciplinary suspension in a match that took place in April 2017.
A hearing was held in June to discuss the matter further. The Steelers ultimately failed to appear before their hearing despite multiple requests to appear.
Upon review of the evidence, the Disciplinary Committee ruled that Provo was aware that the player was suspended, played the suspended player anyway, and then falsified its match report in the USA Rugby Competition Management System that listed its roster.
Provo may reapply for entry into Rocky Mountain Rugby competitions in May 2018.
